Escarteen Sisters (Be, Es)

Escarteen Sisters is a string quartet in a DUO; two sisters, a viola, and a cello. They sing and play at the same time, using the instrument to accompany the voice and vice versa. Their work is characterized by the intimate and raw interaction between two sisters who have been making music together since childhood. The multiculturalism in the family is the spine of the sister’s artistic work: half flemish, half Spanish, born in Mexico and Belgium. In the compositions of the second album and the upcoming one, you can hear chamber-like textures with folk-inspired melodies, African rhythms, and jazz harmonies combined with original texts sung in different languages.
